This is Asha’s 4th boudoir session with me, and I always look forward to our sessions together! It’s always so fun to come up with new poses and do something different from the last shoot. Asha has a great relationship with her body so I decided to ask her a few questions regarding her relationship with her body, and how her boudoir sessions have helped her in her self-love journey.

Have you always had a good relationship with your body?

I didn’t always have a good relationship with my body, it was something that I hated about myself through most of my teenage years, until I realised it didn’t matter what other people think as long as I’m happy and positive about myself and my body.

Were you taught body positivity, or is it something you learned yourself?

I wasn’t taught body positivity it was something that I learned over time, not everyone is going to like your body but that’s okay because lots of people will including yourself! That’s my mindset now which took years for me to feel that way.

How did you feel doing your first boudoir shoot?

I was nervous doing my first boudoir shoot, I had looked at heaps of Renee’s other photographs and saw how lovely all of the women looked. I’d never shot any photos with Renee so I wasn’t sure what she was like or how the photo shoot would make me feel, but I am so glad that I did!

Were you nervous coming into your first boudoir shoot?

Yes I was but the results were definitely worth it!

What would you say to someone that was co

nsidering doing a boudoir shoot if they were not super confident with their body?

I’d tell them to stop thinking about their body and just book a shoot in, you will be so glad you did. You’ll have fun and feel confident and sexy the whole time that Renee is taking your photos.

Has a boudoir shoot helped you see your body in a different light? If so, how?

Yes, it has made me so much more confident about my body and my curves, I would never have thought that I would look at a photo of myself and think “wow I look good!” but now I can.

Do you have any words of wisdom to help other women with their journey to loving themselves more?

Stop worrying about what others think and start thinking about how much you like your body because that’s what matters most.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I have found some girls find it awkward or go very nervous and shy when talking about this type of shoot, but you shouldn’t be – there is nothing awkward about it.

Thanks for sharing your body love experience Asha!

One of Asha’s images also received a ‘Daily Choice’ win from the Association of International Boudoir Photographers (see last photo below) which is my 11th Daily Choice win for the time I’ve been a member of the AIBP.
